Star Lake Camp
In our evening meeting this week, the Band will play Eric Ball’s classic march: Star Lake. It might be seventy years old, but it is still fresh and gets the feet tapping! It was written by Eric when he was guest of honour at the famous Star Lake music camp in the United States of America. It might be apocryphal, but the story is told that it was written rather quickly, the parts being handed out to the students almost whilst the ink was still wet!
At the end of the meeting, the band will play The Lord is gracious, a benediction written by Darren Bartlett (and transcribed for brass band by Olaf Ritman) which takes its words from Psalm 145:
The Lord is gracious, abounding in perfect love.
And slow to anger, he rules the earth in Heaven above.
He offers his compassion still to those who trust his name.
The Lord is gracious, his mighty works proclaim.
Amen.
Why not join us for our meetings at 10:30am and 6:00pm on Sunday at The Salvation Army, Meredith Street, Cradley Heath B64 5EP?
